Meet Dr. Garfinkel & Family

Picture
Dr. Jim Garfinkel: owner, and current sole veterinarian of At Farm Veterinary Services, has been riding horses since he was two.  Dr. Garfinkel has ridden and trained horses in many disciplines including: Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter/Jumpers, Dressage, Eventing, Cutting, and Thoroughbred Race Horses.

Dr. Garfinkel is married to Katie, who in her own right, is quite an accomplished horsewoman herself.  Katie has been successful showing horses her whole life. Whether in the Hunter/Jumper ring, eventing her great horse "Solid Oak," or riding western pleasure horses, Katie's has a natural eye for horse flesh, and her riding talents and love for horses is admired by many.

Dr. Garfinkel and Katie have two wonderful daughters who have inherited their parents' love and talents with horses.  Kacey is well known within the Cutting world and has been successful in the cutting pen since she was 7 years old.  She has trained and shown her own cutting futurity and limited aged horses to numerous finals and championships.

Jessie, while also successful in the cutting pen, is now making a name for herself in the jumping ring.  Jessie is also a benefit to At Farm Veterinary Services, with her PEMF certification, and is currently serving her externship in the  equine massage modality. Be sure to visit her website: EQUIBLISS THERAPY.

Dr. Garfinkel's love for horses, and his lifelong commitment to them, ensures that your horse will be treated by someone that understands them, their discipline, and knows how to handle a horse with respect and confidence.

In addition, you can rest assured that Dr. Garfinkel understands the discipline that you have chosen for you and your horse. Dr. Garfinkel will always listen to what you have to say, and never disregard your input about your horse; after all, you know your horse best!

Whether it's showing at the top levels, or enjoying your horse on weekend trail rides, you and your horse will always receive the best care possible when you use At Farm Veterinary Services.

Our Facilities

At Farm Veterinary Services is located in the Heart of the Shenandoah Wine Country, in Plymouth, California.

Situated on 25 acres, we boast a covered arena with the latest in footing design, which allows for all weather examinations; including lameness and pre-purchase exams.

A larger outdoor arena can be utilized to assess the horse under saddle for issues that occur while the horse is ridden and asked to perform in their discipline.
We also offer digital ultrasound and digital radiography.  The digital radiography (x-ray) allows for greater detail, and the potential to enhance the views for more accurate diagnosis.  In addition, a quicker "developing" time decreases the length of time that your horse has to "pose for his picture".

A safe mare motel is available for mares being bred, layup care, and occasionally for boarders. (We are always asked if we accept boarders during the winter months so they can utilize our covered arena. The answer is YES!, if space is available)

Mares due to foal, and horses under medical treatment, are watched not only by scheduled walk-by checks, but by closed circuit cameras with viewing screens in 2 locations.  This is to ensure that your horse is well protected and taken care of the entire time they are in our care.  Our goal is to be able to take care of all of your horses needs here at our facility.
